Shadows in Vanløse – The Search for the Truth

Vanløse, 1952 – Sentenced in advance Copenhagen, November 1952. Darkness has descended on Vanløse. The rain is pouring down on Jyllingevej, and the weak glow of the streetlights is reflected in the wet asphalt. Most people have gone to sleep, but at Vanløse Apotek the night's peace has been broken. A window is broken. Drawers are rummaged through. Money, medicine, and something the pharmacist is loath to talk about are gone. The police are quickly on the scene. Suspicion almost immediately falls on four young men from the barracks at Jyllingevej: Erik, Poul, Hans and Jens. They were seen in the area earlier in the evening. Neither of them has a convincing alibi. And their association with the barracks doesn't exactly make them popular with law enforcement. For your colleagues, the matter is almost resolved. "Four roots from the barracks. Who else? We'll bring them in for questioning tomorrow morning," comes the message from your superior, Detective Inspector Holm. But you're not convinced. You are a detective at the Copenhagen Police, and something about the crime scene doesn't add up. Why are the broken glass pieces on the wrong side of the window? Why have only the drawers containing the box and the morphine been touched? And how could a random burglar know exactly which drawers to open? You have until dawn to investigate the matter before your colleagues proceed to arrest you. Follow the clues through the dark streets of Vanløse, from the station and the pharmacy on Jernbane Allé to the barracks, the church and Damhussøen. Seek out the witnesses. Examine the evidence. And find the real perpetrator. At each checkpoint you will find a clue for your notebook. Finally at the police station it is you who must point out the perpetrator and convince your boss. Four young men have already been convicted in the eyes of the public. Now it's your job to find out if they're guilty too. Because a good detective doesn't follow rumors. He follows the evidence.

The old gardener

A long time ago — longer than anyone can remember — an old gardener tended this garden. People said he knew every plant by name and that he whispered to the trees at night. One morning he had disappeared without a trace. All that remained was a locked chest hidden in a secret place in the garden, and eight strange riddles he had left along the paths. No one has been able to open the chest since. Rumor has it that whoever solves all eight riddles will find the four secret numbers — and finally get to see what the old gardener hid. Do you dare to go into the garden and look?

A church walk in Frederiksberg

7 churches with history and atmosphere Join us on a different tour through Frederiksberg, where we don't just pass by, but step into history. The city's churches are small pockets of time, each with its own personality, from the pomp and splendor of the Baroque to the modern interpretations of faith and community. On this tour, you will experience seven churches – each an architectural landmark and a window into the people who built, used and still use them. It is a journey where we start at the city’s oldest spiritual center and move through centuries of architectural styles, moods and stories. What can you look forward to? Frederiksberg Church – the octagonal Baroque church that exudes royal history and Dutch inspiration. Frederiksberg Castle Church – courtly splendor and Italian Baroque, where the kings could attend church services without leaving the castle. St. Thomas Church – neo-Gothic with atmospheric vaults and colorful glass decorations. St. Luke's Church – robust neo-Romanesque style, built when the city grew explosively in the late 19th century. Solbjerg Church – a church that mixes medieval features and modern decorations, with an exciting fire history behind it. Godthaab Church – born out of the working class and built debt-free – a truly popular project. Emmaus Church – The Deaconess Foundation's church, a place where care, art and community meet. How to experience the trip Don't see the trip as a series of facts, but rather as a journey through moods: In one church, it's the vaulted ceiling that takes your breath away. In another, it's the smell of old bricks and wood. In one place you will encounter classic church art – in another place modern sculptures that show how faith and art can still develop. And along the way you will also get glimpses of Frederiksberg's development – from village to royal refuge, from workers' housing to modern district. In short: The tour through the 7 churches is both a city walk, a journey through time and a journey through the atmosphere. You leave with the feeling that Frederiksberg contains much more than cafés, green parks and old avenues – it is also a district where architecture, culture and intellectual life have left a significant mark.
